Taking the Nuvi for a spin.

Making it work

So lets see how this is going to work. I've a lot of photos here so it should help us along. First get out into the car and get yourself all setup with a good signal.

All the pictures below were taken on a Nuvi 760. The process for your Nuvi is going to be VERY similar, but there may of course be very subtle changes. Please bear this in mind before asking for help. For example, in the Nuvi 3xx series, you find the waypoints under

WHERE TO -> My Locations -> Custom POIs

Now follow the red circle in ALL the pictures:

Here are all the caches closest to us.

Now you may be asking what the Heck is "Millhead/Tra/N/GC13BB3", well it tells me alot about the cache before I even select it!

The "Millhea" is a 7 character unique name for the cache, helps me identify it later.
The "Tra" stands for Traditional cache, others here could be Mul (Multi), UKN (Unknown) etc etc.
The next "N" stands for NOT found yet. If you have found the cache you would see a "Y" for YES found.
The GC13BB3 is the official geocache designator.

Lets select a cache like this. Here's what you will see.

This is a very quick review of the cache. With this alone you could nearly go Geocaching! But wait, just like in the late night TV commercials - "There's more!!" Click the MORE button

Look at all the information we have here! We have

The name of the cache.
Type of cache/Size of cache/Last four people find it or not?/Is Travel bug here:yes/no (Difficulty:1 to 5 / Terrain: 1 to 5)
Date Cache was placed, Date cache was last found
Co-ordinates of cache.

How amazing! And we don't need any paper around to carry all this info!! After you have scrolled up and down and read ALL the description (Yes there are LOGS and HINTS too at the bottom!!)

Click the Back button.

We've decided that we like this cache so off we go to it!

Here's just a view of us on our way! Sweet sweet auto-routing Nuvis smile.gif

When you arrive and park your car near the cache, it's time to STOP the route. The route isn't able to go offroad and so we have to rely on other features. Do this by:
